Default Finding drivers for Toshiba L300, trying to fix Win7 BSOD's

My wifes laptop has been blue-screening semi-regularly (erratically) with a variety of STOP errors, the latest being STOP 0x0000003B

I managed to find a BIOS update on the website that worked, I think it was for the PSLB9U model though?

She's got a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 with the following details whipped from the base of the laptop:
PSLB9A-02K002
PA3613U-1MPC
Serial:

Anyways, I've done Memtest86+ for a couple of hours, same for Microsofts RAM scanner, both turned up nothing.

Just updated all the drivers I could from Windows Update so hopefully that may make a difference, but yeah ...

Any other ideas on what could be causing it would be much appreciated

Cheers

Chill.

Could be the video drivers if you got them from WU. Outpost (a firewall) isnt installed on this is it?? Looks like this can cause that stop error too. Is it x86 or x64?

These maybe the drivers

Try the Windows File Checker, sfc /scannow

Have you tried Toshiba's drivers instead?

My experience with Toshiba is that they like to do strange things to their hardware and drivers, and as a result, generalised drivers do not work properly.

Thanks for the responses.

I've updated the drivers on Saturday, today we've got another BSOD. This time STOP 0x0000001A.

Not a happy chappy I can tell you. Thinking of giving her my new Macbook and hocking off the Toshiba :-/

RAM scans (left running overnight) turn up nothing, tried both memtest86+ and also Microsoft RAM scanner.

That reminds me, I had BSOD problems with my Toshiba (crash within 5 minutes)

Memtest86+ could run for 2 hours, wouldn't find a thing

Replaced the RAM, everything worked perfectly.

Yup it looks like 0x0000001A points to ram. On other sites people have tested it with memtest it found no errors. But they replaced it, then it was fine
