Hello everyone,

I just into torrents because its the only way to download the latest version of Americas Army.

The torrent program isn't working well, I did a search on this forum, seems Orcon is limiting P2P traffic, I'm wondering if theres anyway to get around this?

If not, what ISP is recommended?

Have you read The Rules (http://pressf1.co.nz/showthread.php?t=81854)?
5) Subject Matter: Asking for, or giving advice on how to pirate software will not be tolerated. This includes posting links to sites where Warez, no-CD hacks, keygens etc can be found. And yes, this also covers advice on how to illegally gain access to a commercial service, such as Sky TV.You are on very shaky ground, you have just posted here asking for advice on pirating a computer game. Why can't you just buy it on disk from a shop?

You're outta your tree Bletch - America's Army is a free game.

Timbo - you can download it from Xtra's site (http://games.xtra.co.nz/downloads/browsegame/index.php/522/0/0/0), not sure if you have to be an Xtra customer, but worth a try as the speed is very good.

Alternatively try Gamearena (http://www.gamearena.com.au/pc/games/title/americas-army/downloads.php) - I think you have to register first.

And a third option, if you're prepated to pay five bucks for a disk and postage I'll burn a copy to dvd and post it to you.

The latest is 2.8.2 - available as a 1gig patch for 2.8.1. As of yesterday Xtra doesn't have the full latest version, but you can get the previous version plus the patch. Gamearena have the full version 2.8.2 - 3 gigs.

Timbo: sorry for the mistake there, I must've confused it with something else.

TimboDo they? I'm with Orcon and torrent regularly. NO problems here

When I was with Orcon P2P barely worked at all and I only managed a few KB/sec on BitTorrent.

I switched to TelstraClear Cable and now can easily get 500+ KB/sec.

Thanks for the link Greg, now downloading. - 400kbs, will be done in 2hours

Yeah, I've got all that port stuff sorted.

I was up late last night, seems Orcon isn't stoping torrents when everyones asleep, my torrent program just magically picked up. - Though was only 50kbs compared to 400kbs off GameArena I'm getting right now.

I'm a new customer, just finishing 1st months billing cycle today. Maybe they don't have restrictions for old customers.

I always thought you could get America's Army for free from their website.

I'm with Orcon, torrents can be a bit slow in the evenings, (10-50kbps) But after midnight,or in the mornings I can get up to 200kbps. No complaints there! ;)

I always thought you could get America's Army for free from their website.Yeah you can, but it's a bloody convoluted process, and you have to share their available bandwidth with several million other downloaders, or succumb to their nags to pay a US$10 fee for the game on disk and wait two weeks for it to arrive. For NZ users Xtra is the best bet, followed by GameArena (Bigpond, Aus).

You can order a free CD.

You can order a free CD.You can also be completely oblivious.

The game doesn't fit onto a CD. Any disk is also charged at several dollars for post and packaging.

Maybe you've picked a lucky port number.

Can you please PM me your port number?:)

If you look on Orcons website in their FAQs

you get the following

Do you restrict bandwidth or throttle peer to peer (P2P) traffic? (http://www.orcon.net.nz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=214)

On all plans, except for the ZeroShock data plan, we do not throttle or restrict the bandwidth available to any specific application or type of traffic.
We have implemented a layer 7 quality of service (QOS) appliance which prioritizes latency sensitive traffic and traffic the most common types of traffic (HTTP - web surfing, VOIP, gaming, email) above other traffic, particularly peer to peer.
This means that if the network is experiencing very high load then quality of service is maintained for the types of traffic that need it the most. Peer to peer program users may notice a small reduction in the speeds obtainable for that period of peak traffic.
Note that this traffic management only applies to international traffic. We do not generally shape domestic traffic unless there is threat to network stability.

So if you can Downloading from the Xtra site should be the fastest option, if it lets you of course
